10. Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne - World's Famous Love Story

Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne are hailed as the first family of the American Theater. They are accepted as the greatest acting team worldwide. He was a farm boy from Wiscosin and she was a delicate English beauty.

Stage star couple, Alfred and Fontanne, for the first time appeared in a play, 'A Young Man Fancy', in 1919. They both got married in 1922. The masses were endured to see their fairytale romance.

Alfred and Lynn's fondness for excellence and commitment of Theater is legendary. They came to Ten Chimneys to retreat and repose. Lents together gave many theatrical performances here and because they were widely respected and famous, anyone from music, art and theater wanted to come to Ten Chimneys to work with them. Today, this estate is turned into house museum and is open for public. It is a unique landmark for national resource for theater, arts and art education. In the meantime Lunts won Emmy award and Fontanne appeared in a television movie.

In their 55 years long partnership they appeared in many Broadways and comedies by famous literary figures like George Bernard Shaw, Terrence Rattigan, and Noel Coward. For their contribution to theater, New York's famous Globe Theater was renamed Lunt-Fontanne Theater. They left the stage in 1958 and retired in Wisconsin farmhouse.

9. Annie Oakley and Frank Butler - World's Famous Love Story

Annie Oaklay of Darke was a a skilled rifle shooter. She used her father's old Kentucky rifle for shooting game in her brother's grocery store. She was tomboyish and a successful hunter. Her shooting abilities got her noted and she got an invitation from Black Frost, to participate in a shooting game. Here she had contested against Frank.E.Butler, a well-known marksman and her future husband. Annie won the match with full twenty five points. Butler lost as he missed one of his shots but won the heart of Annie.

Butler was amused by her shooting excellence and soon they began dating each other.

They both got married on 23 August, 1876. Annie and Frank Butler together appeared for the fist time in a show on August 23, 1876. It was here Annie got her stage name 'Oakley'. But off stage she was always called Mrs. Butler. They both traveled extensively across the country to give shooting exhibitions with their Dog, George. In 1901 a serious train accident injured her back, they were forced to leave the show. This accident didn't stopped and she continued to perform. Finally, in 1913 the couple retired from the shooting arena and settled in Cambridge, Maryland.

After 50 years of happy married life, Annie died in in on November 3, 1925 and just after 18 days of her lovely wife death, Frank Butler died on 21st November.

8. Marie and Pierre Curie - World's Famous Love Story

Marie and Pierre were the pioneering researchers and perfect amalgamation of love and brains.

Marie was born in Poland in 1867. Unable to continue her studies further she moved to Paris in 1891, to continue her studies at the Sorbonne. Here she obtained Licenciateships in Physics and the Mathematical Sciences.

Marie was bright, intelligent and very keen on studies. She didn't spare a single minute and used to study voraciously in laboratory or library. In one of the laboratories she caught the eye of Pierre. It was the intelligence and diligence of Marie that attracted Pierre Curie, Professor in the school Physics towards her. He fancied her and made several unsuccessful marriage proposals to woo her. After some time they married in 1895. Marie together with her husband began their partnership for researches. They faced many difficult conditions and Lab conditions were very poor. They both even took up teaching to earn a livelihood. Finally they found success in 1898 when Curie's discovered polonium and radium. For this Curies along with Henri Becquerel won a Nobel Prize for Physics in 1903 for discovering radioactivity.

Marie Curie was devastated following the death of Pierre in 1906. She later took ahead her husband's work and was appointed Professor of General Physics. She got success and Nobel Prize in 1911 in Chemistry. But amidst lectures, success and fame Mari always missed her husband. In 1934 Marie Curie died of Leukemia.

7. Robert and Elizabeth Browning - World's Famous Love Story

6. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert - World's Famous Love Story

After the death of her uncle, King William IV, she was ascended the throne in 1837 and became the Queen of England.

Queen Victoria at th age of 18, married her cousin, Prince Albert in 1840. Prince Albert had a big influence in her life and taught her 'constitutional monarchy'.

Queen Victoria was very close to her husband. The death of Prince Albert's death in 1861 left her completely devastated. Victoria went into a complete seclusion and rarely made a public appearance for next three years for which she faced a lot of criticism.

Victoria was immensely attached to her loyal and supportive husband and for the next forty years of her reign she wore black, in his loving memory. Under the rule of Queen Victoria, Britain saw industrial revolution, economic progress and emerged as an economic power, amidst all this she always mourned the death of her husband.

5. Abigail and John Adams - World's famous Love Story
