Flower girls are girls in the age group of 4 to 10. These girls are usually the nieces of the bride or groom. If no one in your family is in that age group than you can take one of your friend's daughter. You can keep more than one flower girls. The significance of Flower Girl in wedding is that they carry a basket of flowers or rose petals while walking down the aisle. She follows behind the bridesmaid. She then scatters flower before the bride enters the long narrow passage to reach the dais. The flowers strewn on the floor is supposed to bring good luck for the bride.
As the flower girls are young they should be trained or rehearsed before the wedding day. The flower girl can wear a dress resembling the bride or bridesmaids. Even a white beautiful party dress will look cute on her. You have to make sure the fabric of the dress is comfortable. If the flower girl is very young then the length of her dress should be short so that she does not trip. The shoes of the flower girl should be easy to wear.
There have been incidences when brides slip due to flowers on the floor. To avoid this fall, flower girls do not scatter the flowers on the floor instead they carry a basket of flowers or nosegay or posies and keep it with them. You must make the parents of the flower girl seated where she can see them easily.
There are variety of flower baskets available in market. You can choose one of your favorites but make sure it is not too heavy because the flower girl may not like to hold it. You can arrange a cute little chair for her so that she can sit on it after she has walked down the aisle.
After the wedding don't forget to give her gifts. The gifts can be a cuddly teddy bear to a beautiful dress or a pearl necklace. If your flower girl makes a mistake or forgets to toss the flower, do not worry, the guests will not mind. They will find it adorable.
